Indeed, any hope for a cabinet slot in an Obama administration is likely also shot.
I ignored this when the only source was the National Enquirer, but the AP is reporting:
Edwards admits having affair, says he’s ashamed.
He said the affair lasted for a short time in 2006.
What’s amazing is that he had the affair and then still ran for the presidency again (not that the two are mutually exclusive in an historic sense, to be sure). Still, given the scrutiny that such things receive, not to mention his wife’s medical condition, he was taking a big risk with his political career.
He does, however, deny fathering the woman’s child:
Edwards said he is not the father of the woman’s daughter and is willing to take a test to determine the 5-month-old baby’s paternity.
(BTW, I never thought Edwards was a likely veepable for Obama anyway, but could have seen him, perhaps, in another role in the administration).
Update: The ABC News story carries the following provocative headline: Edwards Admits to Sexual Affair; Lied as Presidential Candidate

you have fifty minutes to complete your assignment.

@mbailey - I’d be more than happy to take those requests. Of course, I fear that I have already blown the time parameters.
