From the Department of Inapt (or maybe even Inept) Analogies: Clinton likens herself to ‘Rocky’
It’s been a while, but didn’t Apollo Creed beat Rocky Balboa in the final fight in Rocky? He fights to the very end, never quits (which is her point) BUT at the end he almost wins, but still loses.1 That might be an accurate description of this year’s race for the Democratic nomination, but not the narrative that Clinton should want to play out.
Indeed, not only is there the losing issue, but moreover, Rocky was beaten by a black man.
Not a good analogy at all.

Brilliant. The cultural studies crowd is going to crazy over this one!

Worse–the black man lies when he says “ain’t gonna be no rematch” & then the white man (Hillary in this case) lies right back: “Don’t want one.” Greed & pride make for at least one rematch.

actually thought of rocky 4, where he trains unconventionally and in a primitive environment to fight the favored and grossly popular artificial and steroid induced russian thug, perseveres through many many many rounds and keeps going and going in a very long drawn out fight until ultimately when they are both tired and slightly bruised, he strikes one blow and keeps pounding until the crowd changes their tune for the true real strength winner and of course, wins.
The Kicker for this analogy by Hillary is final line from
Rocky after he wins the fight at the end of the movie:
“During this fight, I’ve seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that’s better than twenty million. I guess what I’m trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!”
Indeed.
