  1. Herbert Hoover
After a year of battling the President and calling him Herbert Hoover, the Democrats now have to face, well, a certain irony….

  2. BREAKING NEWS:

The media just reported that Toni Basil, choreographer and the artist who performed the one-hit wonder “Hey Mickey” in the 1980s, just shot and killed former Monkees star Davy Jones.

“Basil, 57, appeared across from Jones, 59, in the movie Head. The two were known to be intimate with each other over the years, but friends of both have said that financial dealings created hostilities between the two in recent years.”

  1. Precisely why, as I pointed out over at my place, that, contrary to popular blogospheric opinion, the MSM are not big losers in the 2004 elections. They won big time. Hyperpartisanship sells.

    Comment by Dave Schuler — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 10:26 am

  2. Yeah, but Laura is also sexy. You forgot to mention that.

(However, her program is one of the most difficult to listen to on the radio because of her “17 year old high school girl” banter. “What’s that all about?” Admittedly, I also get her show with lots of static and ghosting in the background, which also limits my enjoyment. It doesn’t sound professionally produced.)

    Comment by John Lemon — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 10:38 am

  3. Don’t you think that the hubbub over CSI getting cut short…is a little silly.
I mean, Dan Rather tried to smear the president, with a pack of lies, and he is still reading the news everynight. I think CBS needs to get real.

    Comment by Cathy — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 12:39 pm

  4. Makes perfect sense to me. People actually watch CSI.

    Comment by Admiral Quixote — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 2:34 pm

  5. But for the overt support and lies told by the MSM, Kerry would have lost in a landslide. I’m still waiting for CBS to ask Kerry about his service in Cambodia. What’s that you say? They were too busy forging Bush’s national guard memos to be bothered with Kerry’s phony war record? If CBS thinks this is gonna blow over they are wrong. We will wait until hell freezes over if necessary, if they don’t take action soon we will go after their advertisers. We will never, never forget how they tried to steal this election.

    Comment by kjo — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 4:24 pm

  6. Dan Rather is NOT sexy, hence he has no business being on television.

Hell, CBS even has attractive morgue workers in their TV shows. (Although there has been a trend towards hot looking chicks wanting to investigate dead bodies.)

    Case closed.

  1. Sorry, Professor, but when a team almost loses to KANSAS they have no business even being ranked fifth.

  2. Agreed.

They should be renamed the Texas Panty Wastes!

  3. Did they beat them or not? That is the bottom line, pathetic as the fact that the game was so close was.

But really: Boston College in a BCS bowl over any team ranked in the top ten? Giveth me a break.

  4. You are assuming they can win the thanksgiving game against A&M.

    Comment by David Besly A&M ‘90 — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 12:52 pm

  5. Pretty much, yes ;)

Granted: nothing is guaranteed, but A&M did lose to Baylor, for crying out loud. Plus, Texas is the better team.

Granted: if UT loses, I will nothing to gripe about.

  1. I’m sorry, but in a combat situation where adrenaline is high, rest is low, and you have a bunch of bad guys sniping off the roofs of mosques, this is completely understandable.

I am so sick and tired of pansy assed journalists and the Manhattan elite (broadly construed) passing judgement on our field troops.

Truth be said, we have fought the “cleanest” wars of any nation on earth for the past half century or more. (Take a look at the French in Algeria a few decades back, or the French in the Ivory Coast now, if you doubt me.) Our enemies have been hiding behind women and children, beheading civilians, torturing people, etc. With hundreds of thousands of boots on the ground, something like this is bound to happen. It may be regrettable, but it is FULLY UNDERSTANDABLE.

To prosecute this kid now would be a huge blow for the morale of our troops in the combat arena now.

And like I said before, too bad they didn’t get the journalist too.

    Comment by John Lemon — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 10:34 am

  2. I tend to disagree, Steven.

If the reports are true of booby trapped bodies and insurgents faking injuries and then shooting at close marines then this takes the protections off the table.

Protections for the wounded and those in other non combatant status like under surrender flags are covered only as long as that status is not abused. If they’re abused for military advantage then that status cannot protect and anybody in that status is subject to being attacked.

    Comment by Buckland — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 10:59 am

  3. “He’s dead now.”
It has been a familiar sentiment among the left that 9/11 was something that America has wrought upon itself due to the tyrannical nature of its miliatary and economic foreign policy. “We deserved it” were the three unspoken words that rang all too c…

  4. My 1st instinct is to defend the Marine…the body could’ve been rigged, or the guy could’ve been pretending, waiting for a chance to get someone. It’s not like the enemy hasn’t done stuff like that before. They bring it on themselves, really.

At WORST, this guy may be guilty of bad judgement- he may have been quick to assume (and deal with) a threat when none may have existed, but I severely doubt he’s guilty of malicious intent to murder as some would have us think.

    Comment by Shark — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 2:48 pm

  1. Yeah,
but if I played Vinny this weekend instead of Garcia I might have knocked off the #1 in my league.

    Comment by Jeff — Monday, November 15, 2004 @ 11:16 pm

  2. No secondary. Vinny misses too many reads. Signing Eddie George was a mistake.

    They suck.

Jason Witten is the only positive thing about the Cowboy’s season. He is going to be an awesome tightend. Hopefully, Julius Jones will show he is the Dallas Cowboys back of the future.

    Comment by misterhung — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 12:44 am

  3. Remarkably, Vinny hasn’t been the problem (except for that fumble in the Pittsburgh game).

Indeed, I made the mistake of sitting Vinny and playing Hassleback in my league–ooops.

    Comment by Steven Taylor — Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 7:09 am

  4. I got rid of Garcia after this weekend - he and Vinny are equal on turnovers - and cut a 3 for 3 deal that got me Jake Plummer to finish the season.
