February 24, 2024A QuestionA question for libertarian-leaning Republicans, such as VodkaPundit indentifies here: precisely what is the surprise and indignation over the President's statements today? In other words, why the shock over the fact that a man who is overt in his evangelicalism would take this position? I am dumbfounded, to a degree, that his statements today would surprise anyone. Further, I would note, that it was a wholly symbolic jesture, given, as I note below, that the President has no constitutional role in the amendment process. It should be as surprising as fiscal conservatives who blast Bush for spending like a drunken liberal (Teddy Kennedy?). He didn't run as a fiscal conservative. We conservatives knew "compassionate conservatism" was going to cost us. But we preferred him to AlGore.
