A wise move, methinks: Katherine Harris Won't Run for Senate

And one ought not try to be clever at a press conference:

"So after careful deliberation I am here to announce my candidacy for the United States Senate," Harris said to steady applause from about 75 supporters in her hometown. "But just not yet this year."

She will seek re-election to the House instead.

Wonder what Dan Rather will have to say.

She is not running IN HER OPINION.

I was the first full-time worker (excepting the campaign manager) on Katherine's first political campaign -- vs. Jim Boxzar for the State Senate. She was a dynamite candidate and a tough campaigner. I think she would make a great Florida senator. This just wasn't the right year. Especially not with Washington behind Martinez. But Bill Nelson will come up for re-election eventually. :-)

I am not oppossed to her running at some point, but I agree that this is not the right year.

I concur. I was hoping she would delay a bit. Her candidacy this year would have energized the Florida voters into a massive Buchanan groundswell once again.
