The Same Topic Continued...

While on the topic, Jonah Goldberg's current column: Conservative study reveals academic bias is also on the topic of the "study" of conservatism," which he summarizes as follows:

Now, this whole thing is what I like to call a pinata of asininity - bash it from any angle and from any distance and you will get some reward.

Go ahead, read the whole thing.

I am just amazed at how brazen the anti-conservatism is getting in the media and academia. (I know the latter insults all too well.) This study is an exercise in tautology (defining the problem so as to get your answer in the definition, a.k.a., circular reasoning). Moreover, from what I've seen, the methodology is pretty sloppy as well. First, the margins of difference aren't reported. They say they are aggregating data from numerous studies for a sample size of 22,000 (anything will be statistically significant) and I think they are using some psychometric techniques that have long been suspect. I would like to see the actual report though, which is not online or in print yet (at least not in this neck of the woods).
