  • Stossel to Anchor

    Interesting:

ABC veteran John Stossel will join Barbara Walters as co-anchor on "20/20," said ABC News president David Westin, who described him as "one of the most distinctive voices in network news today."

Interesting. Although, oddly, I'm not sure how useful he'll be as an anchor. I like his reports. And why is WaWa still hanging on? She's like 100 years old.

    Indeed on both counts.

The funny thing is that the whole WaWA ref dates back to SNL in the 70s! :)

Hopefully this means he'll be getting some more commentary time as well. Otherwise, I don't see him being very well served by this "promotion?".

Incidentally, I ran into Stossel at a bar last summer, and I talked to him at length. We even watched his "Give Me a Break" segment together on the barroom TV. Anyway, I had a hard time convincing him that I really was a fan of his. He said that it was "shocking" to meet someone in New York who didn't hate him.

Interesting on the meeting, and indeed on the "promotion".
