The 70s Were a Frightening Time
By Dr. Steven Taylor @ 10:31 am

I present for you the visual evidence from 1978:

The Manson Family Reunion? A soundcheck for the Doobie Brothers? No, the founders of MicroSoft:

The photo was taken in Albuquerque, N.M., just prior to moving the company to the Seattle area. Shown top row, from left, are: Steve Wood, Bob Wallace and Jim Lane; second row, Bob O’Rear, Bob Greenberg, March McDonald and Gordon Letwin; and front row, Bill Gates, Andrea Lewis, Marla Wood and Paul Allen. Gates announced Thursday, June 15, 2006, that he will transition from day-to-day responsibilities at the company to concentrate on the charitable work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates will continue as the company’s chairman after transferring his duties over a two-year period. (AP Photo/Microsoft Corp., Ho, file)

I’m telling you a photo from 1948, 1958, 1968, 1988 or 1998 (heck from 1878) wouldn’t be as scary as this one. What was up with the 70s?

  1. What was up with the 70s?

  2. Oh come on, this picture is downright tame. Where are the lime green leisure suits or the powder blue tuxes? Where are the peasant blouses and pink satin shirts unbutton nearly to the navel, the better to display 10 pounds worth of gaudy gold chains? I’m sorry, but back in ‘78, we would have taken one look at that picture, and captioned it “A Meeting of the Young Republicans”.

  3. Good luck Bill

To retire at 50 and do your life dreams. Wouldn’t we all like to do that? Yes chess and blogging. Isn’t that what I do now? LOL.

  4. AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Where’s Paul Allen? I’m still happy that my team beat his team in the Super Bowl. Makes hating Microsoft (well, not hate, but making fun of them) so much more fun.

  6. I was thinking of the powder blue tuxes - but Mr. Groovy beat me to it. The thing about the 70s is that you can really date a photo by what ppl are wearing. Those styles have never come back in style! I just can’t imagine why! LOLOL
