One of the things that I have found rather interesting about the health care debate is the degree to which what became the PPACA (a.k.a., Obamacare) was once part of fairly mainstream Republican/conservative ideas.

We are aware of the Romney connection, and apparently Newt Gingrich was on board until fairly recently.

Some more thoughts on this from me @OTB:  Health Care, the GOP Field, and Tribal Politics

From me@OTB:  Do we Even Understand Tax Policy?

Does anyone out there still come here (i.e., to PoliBlog proper) first looking for my daily writings?  Or, do you go straight to OTB?

Also:  do you use a feedreader to find new writings or do you surf here first?

For a variety of reasons (mainly, laziness + being busy), I have been awful about cross-posting my OTB posts of late.

Any input on this general topic would be appreciated.

Via the Miami Herald:  Top US Latin America Diplomat to leave post

In an email to staff members late Thursday, Arturo Valenzuela, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, said he would be returning to his duties as professor of government at Georgetown University.

“As you may know the University gave me a two year leave of absence to serve in the Administration —and those two years have come to an end this spring,” he wrote in an email to staff, which was forwarded to The Miami Herald. “Although the exact date of my departure has not been set, it will take place sometime later this summer.”

I suspect that the experience has been rewarded (and frustrating), but I also suspect that life is a bit more enjoyable at Georgetown than it is at State.
