I Wonder How Bush-Dean Would Poll?

By Steven Taylor @ 8:55 pm

Poll: Kerry-McCain Would Beat Bush-Cheney

Kerry-McCain has a 14-point advantage over Bush-Cheney among registered voters, 53 percent to 39 percent, in the latest CBS News poll. The results were released Thursday.

The lead is nearly double the edge Kerry alone enjoys over Bush.

So, what does that say about Kerry?

  1. Just a few posts below, you have “The Story that Would Not Die.”

Looks like the media wants this one alive no matter what…

  2. I think it says that McCain is more popular than Bush or Kerry and if he had a nomination of a major party behind him, he would win.

It also shows that about 7% of Bush’s support is very weak if they are willing to jump over to Kerry’s ticket simply if McCain joins. This 7% obviously does not like Bush’s actions, but it seems like Kerry has to work harder (or simply get McCain to join him) to earn their support.

It also tells us that 7% could be in play as we get closer to the election if their allegience to Bush is so low.

  3. I believe their is some significance to this poll beyond the McCain fantasy.

It shows that 3.5% (3.5% coming over from Bush would make an extra 7% difference between the two, added to Kerry’s 7% lead equalling the 14% advantage) of Bush’s support is very loose. If they are willing to switch over to Kerry’s ticket simply because of McCain, they must not be too enthused about Bush.

Even if McCain doesn’t join, I think this 3.5% is likely to move over to Kerry as the election nears.

  4. EEE!

I thought I had lost the first post!

    Now I look stupid. :(

Anyways, I think you get the idea.

  6. I’m sorry, I must be ignorant on this, but I don’t get the point of voting for the Kerry-McCain ticket (in the fantasy land we’re discussing). Assuming I’m a disenchanted Rep. who votes for them, am I hoping Kerry dies? Because that’s the only scenario I see as helping me. If McCain is V.P. what, exactly, can he do - follow Kerry’s policy speech with one in oppostion?
I’m just not getting it, I gues.
