Kerry Takes His Cue from Michael Moore

By Steven Taylor @ 8:13 am

For first time, Kerry criticizes Bush’s reaction to 9/11 attacks.

Here’s my question: what difference would it have actually have made if BUsh had rushed from the room?

I will be honest, I am not sure if I would have sat there myself. On the other hand, as my question indicates, what substantive difference would it have made?

Really, this would be a non-issue except for F911.

  1. The difference would have been there would have been more evidence of how he ‘rushed to war’. There’s a negative or positive spin to put on anything if you look hard enough. ‘Seek and ye shall find’

  2. I was in a long email discussion with some friends on this topic-to the point I ended up creating a timeline of the events (via the 9/11 report) to ask if there was ANYTHING Bush could have done during those 7 minutes to prevent either AA 77 or UA 93 from crashing (since that’s the charge)

  3. This has been discussed in detail elsewhere. Much of that time was because of the change from the schedule-the Secret Service had to alter their schedule, make sure they had a secure route, etc. Even if Bush left the room, he would not have been able to leave the school until everything was in place.

  4. Not much difference indeed. And, of course, all we have from Kerry is his after-the-fact assertion that he’d have done otherwise.

    Comment by James Joyner — Friday, August 6, 2004 @ 2:23 pm

  5. We may have Kerry’s assertion that he’s have done otherwise, but we also have his statement to Larry King in June of this year that he was in a meeting (maybe with Daschle) and sat stunned for some forty minutes.
