Kevin Drum has decided to both go back to examining Bush’s National Guard records.

  1. and yet he is respected

  2. the funny thing is that while there have been LOTS of Bush supporters bitching and moaning in that thread, not a SINGLE ONE had even attempted to dispute the facts that I have found by examining the payroll data.

Bush didn’t show up for required training for five months. Everyone knew that already. But Bush said he made up those drills. He’s been lying about that. And now those lies have been exposed.

  3. Paul is no doubt referring to my comment, which provided a link to ‘adult medications for obsessive-compulsive disorder.’

The reason why the vast majority of people aren’t going to try disputing your findings is that this doesn’t really matter. If you want to spend your time doing anti-Bush things, please please pick something that matters. Lord knows both he and Kerry have an endless amount of present-day faults.

Even something like the Wendy’s trip, while it might appear trivial, provides a *present-day* window into Kerry’s world. He (and Ter) can’t even manage to choke down burgers and chili, they have to have grilled diver sea scallops brought in.

  4. Good point Lonewacko. Let’s keep to the present tense. But that Wendy’s thing is already in the past, so let’s not dwell on the burgers and chili catastrophe. If the Vietnam war and the idea of serving one’s nation by putting one’s life in the line of fire are not valid campaign issues ("how TOTALLY 1960s"), let’s at least focus on present tense things….like the day after tomorrow. Wendy’s-gate is such old news. Get with it man.

  5. The reason why the vast majority of people aren’t going to try disputing your findings is that this doesn’t really matter.

actually, I agree that Bush’s dereliction of duty and betrayal of America’s national security 30 odd years ago is not terribly relevant. I didn’t care that Clinton was a draft dodger. And I don’t care that Bush effectively deserted the Air Reserve Forces. Hell, back then, I was getting high every day—I’m not judging Bush based on his “youthful indiscretions".

What I’m judging him on is the fact that he lies about it. And the reason he lies about it is that there are lots of people for whom Bush’s refusal to do his duty as a member of the US Armed Forces IS important.

So, its not important to you, and its not important to me….but it is obviously important enough to George W. Bush for him to continue to lie about it.

Its a question of Bush’s priorities….and what those priorities reflect about his character.
