Via WaPo: U.N. Votes To Outlaw Nuclear Terrorism

The 191-member U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday unanimously approved a treaty outlawing the use of nuclear weapons by terrorists and their supporters.

The Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism is the first anti-terrorism treaty to be adopted since the Sept. 11, 2024, attacks on the United States. It is the 13th anti-terrorism treaty and builds on recent efforts by the U.N. Security Council to compel states to strengthen their laws and policies to combat terrorist groups.

SCENE: A CAVE SOMEWHERE IN THE THIRD WORLD. A SET OF OBVIOUS TERRORISTS SIT AROUND A TABLE, WORKING ON SOMETHING. ANOTHER OBVIOUS TERRORIST BUSTS INTO THE ROOM.

TERRORIST 1 (busting into room): I bring stunning news: the UN has outlawed nuclear terrorism!

TERRORIST 2 (throws down tools in his hands–he has been working on some object): What?!?! And I have almost finished our suitcase nuke!

TERRORIST 1: No, it is true: all 191 members of the General Assembly voted it so. What will be do?

BOSS TERRORIST (who has been watching from the shadows): Curses! Foiled again by the power of the General Assembly!

TERRORIST 2: (al a Shatner in the TWOK): Koooofiiiiiiii!

    4. Don’t laugh. This works.

Several years ago I wrote the Canadian Prime Minister and asked him not to attack my house with either a neutron bomb and/or the Royal Mounted Canadian Police. While I do live by horses, neither event has happened.
