  1. This scares the hebie-jeebees out of me. Only 1% of cattle in the US is tested for BSE. That is less than any other country. An estimated 30% of alzhiemers patients probably have been misdiagnosed and actually have some form of BSE instead.

  2. A capitalist aside: Two stocks to invest in when news like this pops up (and it will continue unabated) are DOC and RFMD - the cattle industry is using RF ID tags to keep track of their herds. This information is, of course, only for those interested in that kind of thing - (possibly) making some money.
