  2. Do you really consider the sinking of a boat built for 15 — even if it was crammed with 120 — a major transportation-related accident? Well, if the predicate of the adjective “major” is “accident” then maybe. If the predicate is “transportation” I have my doubts. In any case, they are somewhat apples and oranges — one doesn’t expect a major airline carrier to crash. One could well expect a refugee boat to sink, especially given the circumstances.

  3. Boats are a mode of transportation.

    100+ deaths is a major event.

    Hence, a “major transportation-related accident”

    Now, a more foreseeable one than an airliner crash, yes.

    But less major or less transportation-y?

    Not so much.
