Via the NYT: Supreme Court Nominee Is Asked to Redo Response to Questions

The Supreme Court nomination of Harriet E. Miers suffered another setback on Wednesday when the Republican and Democratic leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee asked her to resubmit parts of her judicial questionnaire, saying various members had found her responses “inadequate,” “insufficient” and “insulting.”

Funny, that largely sums up my overall view of the Miers’ nomination… (snarky? yes. accurate? pretty much, I’m afraid).

And really, this is pretty remarkable, and could be indicative of what happens when one appoints someone who isn’t really prepared for such a position and who hasn’t spent much time thinking about what it would mean to serve on the high court.

Veteran senators and aides said they could not recall another occasion when the committee had sent back a nominee’s answers to a questionnaire because they were incomplete.

If anything, this doesn’t help the PR battle over this nomination.

Update: James Joyner, while not a Miers booster, find the questionnaire business to be “silly.”

Update 2: Joyner has rescinded “silly.”

Did you intend for that second update to be in bold print? Well, it ain’t, and it’s got some funny symbols around it. ;)

      Fixed–thanks.
