Via the BBC: Iraq cabinet ratifies oil deals.
The deal concerns the development of the Rumaila field near Basra by two foreign firms. The deal should increase production from the the field substantially: “The project aims to almost triple output at the 17bn barrel field - increasing it by 2m barrels a day.”
Of course, there still is no national agreement on how to share oil revenues. Further, the exact politics of the situation could shift after January’s parliamentary elections.
