I noted on Facebook and elsewhere some gripes about Twitter being down. Here’s the reason, via the BBC:
Twitter site reopens after attack

The popular site has been subject to a so-called denial-of-service attack, according to the firm’s official blog.

It really makes one wonder why people have to be so malicious.

The story also notes “Facebook has also said it is “looking into” possible problems with its site.”

By and large, I think it’s mostly the same folks who steal stop signs. There are reports of blackmail and the like, but mostly it’s just downhome vandalism.

File this ones severity under low-moderate. At least it wasn’t like the time they posted all of those facebook account details up online.
