Via the BBC: Colombia extradites Farc captor
Colombia has extradited to the US a rebel leader who held political hostages, among them Franco-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt.Gerardo Aguilar Ramirez, alias Cesar, a former top Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) commander, faces charges of trafficking drugs to the US.
Given the pattern with the Uribe administration, this is not a surprise. But as a long-term observer of US-Colombian relations, I still find it amazing how the extradition process has evolved to the point that such moves are routine.
