Via ABC News: Sarah Palin Speaks to ABC News:

As to whether another pursuit for national office, as when she joined Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the race for the White House less than a year ago, would result in the same political blood sport, Palin said there was a difference between the White House and what she had experienced in Alaska. If she were in the White House, she said, the “department of law” would protect her from baseless ethical allegations.

“I think on a national level, your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we’ve been charged with and automatically throw them out,” she said.

Huh? “department of law”?

As the story correctly notes:

There is no “Department of Law” at the White House.

I suppose she may mean the Office of White House Counsel, or maybe the Department of Justice, but this is one of those continuing examples wherein Palin at least sounds like she doesn’t know what she is talking about (and certainly makes us think that she not only sounds like she doesn’t know what she is talking about but that she simply doesn’t know what she is talking about). Specifically this reminds me of her statement during the campaign that the veep is “in charge of the Senate.” It is as though she only has a vague idea of how Washington really works.

And she might want to check with the Clintons about being shielded from ethics charges and legal bills.

There is a reason why Charles Krauthammer thinks she is “not a serious candidate for the presidency” and Mike Allen describes her as a circus act.”

You would think that since she reads–by her own admission–ALL of the newspapers, she would be better informed.

Although–to cut her some slack–if you read all newspapers your head would be full of so much information that you might get confused from time to time.
