Via the AP: The Associated Press: Colombia’s Uribe: staying in power ‘inappropriate’
Uribe told a business forum in Bogota on Thursday that he considers it “inappropriate to stay on as president because the country has a lot of good leaders.” He said he would not want future generations to look on him with bitterness as someone stuck on power.
Uribe has made similar statements before. However, he also has never done anything to stop the forward motion on the constitutional reform process.
El Tiempo reports (Presidente Uribe reconoce que está en una “encrucijada” frente a su posible reelección) that Uribe gave a number of cryptic answers to questions about a third term yesterday, including “Tengo una encrucijada en el alma” ["I have a crossroads in my soul."]
