Via the Politico.com: GOP, RNC to rebrand Democrats as ‘Socialists’ - Roger Simon

A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”

And if that doesn’t work, they plan on just calling them “Stupid Poopyheads.”

Really, I know that the national party committees aren’t that important, but this is best they can do?

Here’s an alternative idea, wacky though it may be: instead of passing resolutions about what to call one’s opposition, how about coming up with actual, workable policy proposals?

Just a thought.

Indeed, and in all seriousness, the GOP needs to figure out how to rebrand itself and forget trying to rebrand the opposition.

Tee hee. I wish the Dems would re-brand themselves as Democratic Socialists, but that would require such a massive change in their policy platform and the campaign financing system in order to be meaningful. And I rather like party labels that convey actual meaning–something I’d have to say that ‘Republican’ rather fails to do.

On the plus side, electoral contests where the “Stupid Poopyhead” candidate ran against the “Neener Neener” candidate would make cable news shows more entertaining to watch.

  4. Steven L. Taylor Says:

I dunno–I am pretty sure that is pretty much where most cable news coverage is already ;)

This is why I do not support the Republican Party. I am a proud conservative who will support any party which promotes the principles in which I believe. This name calling,”labeling,” is beneath contempt and belongs to adolescents and nut cases.

What’s wrong with “Stupid Poopyheads?” It’s a lot nicer than some of the names and creative adjectives I’ve used to describe the Democrats…

I like the Silly Party against the Sensible Party myself.

Wow, they really can’t get enough of the whole “using the noun as an adjective is clever and biting” business either.

It would appear that just accepting the phrase “Democratic Party” would be a pretty huge turning point for the GOP.

B.: Yes, Monty Python comes to mind a lot these days on this topic.

    SKB: Indeed.
