Via the Anchorage Daily News: Begich lead increases in race for Senate: Top Stories
The latest count shows Begich with 138,959 votes to 137,937 for Stevens. Alaskan Independence Party candidate Bob Bird is in third place with 12,144 votes, followed by Libertarian David Haase and nonpartisan Ted Gianoutsos.
That gives Begich a 1,022 vote lead with roughly 24,000 ballots left to count.
We may yet miss out on the spectacle of a Stevens expulsion and a special election in AK. Drama lovers in the audience will, no doubt, be disappointed.
