First, it would appear that Democrats will pick up the Oregon Senate seat.
Second, it is now official: Emanuel will take the Chief of Staff job.

Interesting, considering Obama’s platform of “change”. Emmanuel has been part of the Washington establishment for as long as I’ve been alive, I think.
In fact, as I look over the list of names that are floating around about who he might appoint to what cabinet position, I see that he is overwhelmingly considering people who were involved in the Clinton administration in some way, or who have otherwise been hanging around Washington for most of their careers.
They may work out just fine, but it’s a bit of an irony to me that Mr. Change has so far gone only to the usual suspects for his cabinet assignments.
Beyond the irony, I am not sure how people who have been involved in the government for decades are going to bring about “change.”
