By Steven L. Taylor

I have not been shy in my criticism of McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. I have found much (if not most) of the public criticism of her to be fair. However, a story in today’s LAT is a bit silly, and something of a stretch in terms of telling us much of anything about Palin. The shocking finding is that Sarah Palin’s college years left no lasting impression. Basically, the reporter found that no one from her college years seems to remember her, while the other candidates appear to have left a more lasting impression.

interviews with a dozen professors yielded not a single snippet of a memory.

But, really, this is hardly a big deal, let alone newsworthy. For one thing, Palin attended four institutions in multiple states over a five year period. It is rather difficult to build a lasting impression if one isn’t in the same place for a long time. Beyond that, professors have a lot of students, and only a handful tend to stick in one’s mind. Indeed, even really good or interesting students fade from the memory over time.

The rest of the article, which focuses on the recollections of friends, is just typical bio-fluff.

I have to disagree with you on this one.

The fact that she was living in Moscow during the height of the SOCIALIST Soviet Empire raises questions.

Well, I suppose one can’t be too careful…
