Via McClatchy: GOP turnout lagging in heavy N. Carolina early voting
Across the state, Democrats showed the most first-day enthusiasm. Of the nearly 114,000 first-day voters, 64 percent were Democrats, 21 percent Republicans and 15 percent unaffiliateds.
The rate of early voting is up by ~40% over 2004, according to the report. One would expect that given that an open seat election tends to enhance turn-out, not to mention the generally dramatic nature of this year’s campaign.
While one can make too much of the numbers cited above, the bottom line is that it isn’t good news for McCain, as he is facing the very real prospect of losing North Carolina (normally a reliable GOP state) to Obama.

Here we have a freshman senator with no experience after 4 months in office running for president. People and the press have said he is brilliant yet his IQ is only 130. Not much above average. His two books now appear to have been written by the ex terrorist William Ayres (he’s only my neighbor Obama claimed). Read some of Ayres books and Obamas books are written in his style with many of the same quotes. Obama it appears was born in Kenya. There are pictures of his mother in Kenya when she was about ready to deliver. 9 months along. Airlines will not let women aboard for long flights who appear close to delivering their babies. Obama’s 17 year old mother appeared at a Hawaii hospital with Obama when he was 6 days old. Something very fishy here.

ww terry, quick comment: a 130 IQ (if that is true) would put him ahead of 97.7% of the population. That is hardly average.
I suggest trying a bit harder next time you decide to post a bunch of false and malicious rumors.

Who said Obama’s IQ is 130? It’s not likely that anyone would have that information, even if an IQ test really was administered to Obama, typically by a trained professional

It strikes me that www terry’s info is questionable, regardless.
For example: the theory that Ayers ghost-wrote Obama’s books is, as best as I can tell, nothing more than a fringe conspiracy theory.
And I have seen nothing on his IQ, but 130 is hardly, as was noted, only slightly above average.

Colin Powel sums it up best as to why Barack Obama should be the next President of these United States of America. As a citizen I am viewed as a Republican. I am a born-again, white, middle-class Christian whom has been married to the same person for 32 years; we have four adult children and a grandchild; we own a small business. But, I agree with Powell that “THE RIGHWARD SWING OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS GONE TOO FAR”. The scare tactics, the statements of “Pro-American” areas; the attitude that Muslims along with Democrats are some how “Un-American” has to stop. I will not participate in a “Salem Witch Hunt” of other Americans due to accusations’. We need the transformational figure of Obama and the inclusive nature of his campaign. We are still a Christian nation and standing up against bigotry is my Christian duty.
