Here’s the video:

In all honesty after watching her in two different interviews, it seems that she does not have any thoughts of her own on the major issues of the day and is simply pumped full of talking points from her coaches in the campaign. The only exception was in the portion of the Charlie Gibson interview that was done outside near a segment of the Alaska pipeline where she clearly had a few things to say about oil and gas policy. Beyond that, her answers are remarkably vacuous.

I know that it is necessary for a running mate to subordinate their views to those of the top of the ticket, but her constant references to McCain sound rather empty, as though the default response to any question is to underscore McCain’s goals of reform and his general maverickyness.

And Ben Smith is right, the following was quite painful:

COURIC: But he’s been in Congress for 26 years. He’s been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.

PALIN: He’s also known as the maverick, though. Taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he’s been talking about — the need to reform government.

COURIC: I’m just going to ask you one more time, not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation?

PALIN: I’ll try to find you some, and I’ll bring them to you.

[...] thought that Palin’s performance with Couric (noted, with clips, here and here) was pretty bad. I expected that her critics would point that out, as they have, but I did [...]

It is absolutely astonishing that such an under-educated double talker
would find herself the Governor of the State of Alaska and even more
    remarkably the Vice Presidential candidate!!!

The truly scarey thought would be for her tobecome the Vice President
and possibly become the LEADER of the free world. Wow, what a thought.
That thought alone has energized me to vote Obama. And, I am a Reagan
Republican that hasn’t voted Democrat in over 20 years!

    America, PLEASE wake up!

    UNDER QUALIFIED
    OVER HER HEAD
    SHE MUST BE STOPPED!
