ABC’s Political Radar reports: Limbaugh: McCain Out to Destroy GOP for 2024 S.C. Defeat.

I continue to find this whole thing incredible to watch. It isn’t that I have a problem with the notion that someone would dislike McCain or the notion that there are factions within parties. What I find borderline insane is the ongoing argument that McCain is some sort of raving liberal, given that the empirical evidence rather clearly indicates otherwise. (Of course, I think that John Cole is correct–the term “conservative” seems to have no meaning at the moment).

And I find this rather amusing:

“It was just six months ago that if a candidate was endorsed by the liberal media we were instantly suspicious of them,” Limbaugh said.

As I recall, about six months ago, the media was declaring the McCain candidacy to be dead.

    1. Today I had a student in class tell me that McCain was a Democrat in a red coat. That he might be wearing a red coat but that there was definitely a blue shirt underneath that coat and that if McCain was the nominee the Democrats would win no matter who won in November. The venom of the anti-McCain sect is amazing.

    2. […] The educated leftists (Obama supporters, naturally - educated folks going with hearts rather than heads) over at the local website known as Political Groove have noticed us, which is nice of them. I also noted something quite creepy over on their site, that Rush Limbaugh is rumored to support Hillary over McCain (for more on same, see Poliblogger), which had better be tongue in cheeck. Just plain silly if true. Following politics too closely can obviously make one lose perspective if that report is true. […]

    3. Our own version of the Cossacks. They didn’t beat Joe Leiberman either, and I write that as a backer of Teflon Rom.
Maybe it all has something to do with the perception of treason, and the dislike of being patronized that even the principled neo-liberal Mickey Kaus feels pretty strongly.
