Via the AP: Richardson goes candlepin bowling in NH

Democrat Bill Richardson donned a pair of blue shoes Wednesday — though not suede — and tried his hand at candlepin bowling, a tougher, New England version of the game.

[…]

Richardson has played regular bowling, where the balls and pins are bigger, but never this game, where it’s entirely possible to roll the smaller, 4 1/2-inch diameter ball and not hit anything.

The results? He knocked down three of 10 pins, but scored many smiles and handshakes with voters who said they would give him a closer look.

Well, gee, if he is willing to try a local version of bowling, he must be ready to be the President!

Now, if he will flip some pancakes and have coffee at the local cafe, we’ll know for sure!

(BTW, this is not a knock on Richardson, but on the whole silly spectacle of this kind of campaigning).

    1. At first glance, I misread the title as “Blowing for Votes.” I thought, well, that’s one way to get them I suppose.

    2. Funny comment above. Yet I still have to think that Richardson is competing for a VP position at best.

    3. I always thought of candlepin as normal and thought it was like weirdest thing ever when I learned about duckpin bowling and that it was the norm.

    4. I’m really disappointed that we haven’t heard more from Richardson recently. I really feel like he is probably the most qualified Dem. candidate in the race, but he just doesn’t have the charisma he would need to really draw attention to himself. I’m actually hoping he can swing the VP position at this point.
