Via the BBC: Blair becomes Middle East envoy:

Tony Blair is to become a Middle East envoy working on behalf of the US, Russia, the UN and the EU.

The announcement comes just hours after he stood down as UK prime minister and shortly before he is expected to quit as a Member of Parliament.

Man, shouldn’t the guy be allowed to take a nap or something between retiring from one job and getting another?

Seriously, I am surprised by this, insofar as I continue to wonder if he will be well received in the region.

I cannot be sure what his performance will be like. I imagine he will try and clear his name to the extent that such is possible and that he’ll always be more “successful” than Wolfie was at the World Bank. Regards.
