I have often noted with frustration that the general political discourse in this country often resembles nothing more than two side rooting for their sports teams and cheering when their side score points. (One of my longer posts on that subject can be found here).
Along those lines comes Michelle Malkin with one of the more sophomoric attempts at political “commentary” I have seen perhaps ever (at least coming from an adult, let alone a professional writer). I find the whole thing even odder given the types of unnecessary personal attacks that Malkin has suffered in the Blogosphere, as this kind of silliness would seem to practically invite more invective along those lines.
Video below the fold.

Yeah, that’s bad.
Do you have a theory (or theories) on why so many have come to view politics as simply a game?

Makes a change from reading her stuff online. A whole new take. Refreshing. Simple, direct… I like it.

So what’s she spelling out? (No, I’m not going to watch the video.)

Harry Reid Embarrassing the Democrats?
The dean of the Washington commentariat, David Broder, terms Senate Majority Leader Harry Byrd “The Democrats’ Gonzales.”
Here’s a Washington political riddle where you fill in the blanks: As Alberto Gonzales is to the Republica…

Agree or disagree with her viewpoint, she is a capable writer. All this does is to strengthen the perception that she is an intellectual lightweight. Sort of a self-inflicted wound on her credibility and legitimacy as a commentator on today’s issues.

As conservative commentary goes, not quite William F. Buckley, is it?

There’s a lot of stuff like this made - usually not with any seriousness. Do you know if this was intended as serious discourse, satire, just a good laugh, or what?
Yeesh.

Robot Boy: Indeed.
Cpt D: Hard to know for sure. For me it just seems that if one wants to be taken seriously as a commentator, analyst and author that this (and other stuff she has done) then this isn’t a very good route.

You’re right, I agree. You sort of expect to find this sort of thing floating around on the internet with amateur authoring. Chain email, pass the funny video along kind of stuff.
Sort of disturbing to see it from a “real” analyst.

The video is as bad as those campaign songs from the 19th century.

[...] Everybody picks on poor Michelle Malkin for her fetish turn of the other day. My only regret is that, because the iron law of institutional self-perpetuation, Hawkery Rumpery doesn’t down tools and go buy themselves some Wiis - Malkin’s video clip packs everything her tendency has left to say into as efficient a vehicle as can be hoped. Why on earth do she or any of the rest of them need to keep bothering us with their blogging, columnizing and hitting the talk shows now that Herself has rendered them superfluous? [...]

[...] » More Evidence that Many Think that Politics is a Game: The video on this page is horrible in so many ways that you could say it transcends that horribleness and becomes wonderful … if it actually did that. But it doesn’t. It’s merely horrible. via UO, where Mr. Henley notes: [...]
