Think Progess has video of an NBC News report on Senator McCain’s visit to Baghdad. McCain went for a walk in an open air market in Baghdad to prove the point he made last weekabout the fact that there “are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods today” (the same interview in which he claimed that General Petraeus drives around in an unarmored Humvee).

The market in question was a three minute drive from the Green Zone and McCain was accompanied by (I am not making this up):

“100 American soldiers, with three Blackhawk helicopters, and two Apache gunships overhead.”

McCain’s walking attire included a bulletproof vest.

Just an ol’ stroll through the marketplace, I guess…

At a post-walk press conference he made it sound like he had gone on a regular walk.

McCain appears to be losing his grip on reality as he pursues the GOP nomination. Indeed, he looks a bit desperate to me and not at all like someone likely to win said nomination.
