Via the Pensacola News Journal: Harris stays in
Katherine Harris won’t quit, while fellow Republican primary contender LeRoy Collins announced 26 days ago that he’s starting the race.[...]
Despite a slew of staff resignations, questionable political contributions and lack of some Republicans’ support in recent months, Harris said she will not withdraw from the Sept. 5 Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. The winner of that race will face incumbent Bill Nelson, D-Orlando.
“The Republicans who don’t support me have never supported me,” she said, referring to snubs from some members of the GOP’s upper echelon, including Gov. Jeb Bush. “There is extraordinary grassroots support.”
Yes, well, I suppose that depends on what “extraordinary” means.
Seriously, this one of the most self-deluded candidacies of recent memory. When your staff keeps quitting and everyone who knows anything about politics is telling you that you can’t win, it is time to quit. It is certainly time to stop wasting the family fortune on the enterprise.
And seriously, when I first read the following, my first thought was mental health, not physical:
Harris also said she’s healthy.
The reference is to a benign mass recently removed from her ovaries.
The PoliBlog election forecast team again would call Florida for Nelson and declare Harris as toasty as toast can get.
